Five Things to Check Before Hiring a Scaffolding Company

Booking scaffolding shouldn't be stressful, but it pays to know what a good, safe company looks like before you commit. Here are five things worth checking first. (This is a text-only demo post — notice there's no image on this one.)

1. Are the scaffolders qualified?

Look for CISRS qualified operatives. It's the recognised industry standard for scaffolders in the UK, and it tells you the people on your property have been properly trained and assessed.

2. Do they work to TG20 and SG4?

These are the documented guidance standards for scaffold design and safe working. A company that plans and builds to TG20 and SG4 is one that takes compliance seriously.

3. Are they directly employed, or agency labour?

A directly employed team tends to mean more consistent quality and accountability. You get the same faces on your site, not a different crew every visit.

4. Will you get the paperwork?

A proper scaffold comes with a handover and regular inspections. Ask whether you'll receive the documentation — it's there to protect you.

5. Is the quote clear?

A good quote is easy to understand, with no surprises later. If something isn't clear, ask. A trustworthy company will be happy to explain.
